Your Complete Guide to Curlkalon Hair Care

Your hair's health is our priority. This guide shows you how to maintain your Curlkalon styles while protecting what matters most - your natural hair. We've created detailed care instructions for each of our collections, from our signature crochet styles to our Natural Roots clip-ins. Follow these guidelines to ensure your extensions stay beautiful and your hair stays healthy.

CROCHET CURLS

Our signature crochet styles are designed for immediate wear, with no pre-soaking or special treatments required. Each style is alkaline-free, eliminating the scalp irritation often associated with synthetic hair. Before installation, ensure your natural hair is clean, well-moisturized, and properly braided to create a secure foundation for your style.

Visit our Installation Guide here for step-by-step video tutorials on installing your Curlkalon crochet curls. Our tutorials cover everything from braiding patterns to proper looping techniques, ensuring your style looks beautiful and lasts longer.

Morning Care
Start each day with gentle finger detangling to refresh your style. Unlike natural hair, our synthetic styles don't require daily moisturizing - a light mist of water is sufficient if needed. Focus on maintaining the curl pattern by gently separating any tangles with your fingers rather than using tools that might disrupt the curl structure.

Nighttime Protection
Protecting your style overnight is crucial for longevity. Always sleep with a silk or satin bonnet, or use a silk/satin pillowcase to minimize friction. Gather your hair loosely at the crown, avoiding tight bands that can create unwanted tension. Never go to bed with wet or damp hair, as this can lead to tangling and matting.

While some frizz is natural with synthetic hair, proper maintenance can minimize these concerns. Our high-quality synthetic fibers are designed to mimic natural hair texture, and many users find that their style actually improves with wear. If you notice frizz developing, our Effortless CurlCreme™ can help smooth and define your curls while adding a fresh, pleasant scent. For stubborn tangles or excessive frizz, trimming the ends can help refresh your style.

When to Wash
While our crochet styles don't require frequent washing, you may want to cleanse your install every 2-3 weeks depending on your lifestyle and product usage. Signs that it's time for a wash include product buildup, a dull appearance, or if the style begins to feel heavy.

Washing Process
When washing your crochet style:

  • Use lukewarm water and a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo
  • Focus on cleansing your scalp and the base of the install
  • Avoid rough manipulation that could cause tangling
  • Gently squeeze out excess water rather than wringing
  • Allow to air dry completely before styling

With proper care, your crochet style can last 6-8 weeks. To maximize the lifespan of your install:

  • Minimize manipulation during daily styling
  • Protect your hair at night with proper silk/satin coverage
  • Avoid excessive product use that can cause buildup
  • Keep your scalp clean and moisturized
  • Address any tangling or frizz promptly with recommended care methods

NATURAL ROOTS CLIP-INS

When you receive your Natural Roots Clip-Ins, take time to understand your set. Each collection comes with 9 strategically sized wefts designed for seamless layering. Familiarize yourself with the different widths and plan your installation pattern before beginning. Your set includes one 10" wide weft, two 7" wide wefts, four 5" wide wefts, and two 3" wide wefts, allowing you to create natural-looking volume and length.

Preparation

  • Start with clean, dry hair
  • Section your hair horizontally using sectioning clips
  • Begin at the nape of your neck and work upward
  • Have all your tools ready: sectioning clips, tail comb, and mirror

Installation Steps

  1. Create your first section at the nape of your neck using a tail comb
  2. Clip the rest of your hair up and out of the way
  3. Back-comb the root of your section lightly for extra grip
  4. Start with your widest weft (10") at the nape
  5. Open the clips and position the weft close to the root
  6. Press down firmly to secure each clip
  7. Continue working upward, using wider wefts at the bottom and smaller pieces toward the crown
  8. Space wefts about 1-2 inches apart for natural layering

Handling & Wear

  • Always handle your clip-ins with clean, dry hands
  • Remove before sleeping or swimming
  • Avoid applying excess products directly to the extensions
  • Style with care, especially when using heat tools

Removing Your Clip-Ins

Heat Styling
