The Top 8 ‘Black Girls Rock’ Hair Moments We Loved

Black girls do indeed rock and this past Sunday (April 5, 2015) we witnessed how incredibly inspirational African American women are during the 5th Annual “Black Girls Rock!” celebration on BET.

First Lady Michelle Obama gave an empowering speech on the importance of education, proclaiming and re-affirming how amazing black girls are. The show payed tribute to six groundbreaking women in the areas of entertainment, educcation, philanthropy, and health. Hosts Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King return to the show for their fourth year along with honorees Jada Pinkett Smith (Star Power Awrd), Ava DuVernay (Shot Caller Award), Cicely Tyson (Living Legend Award), Erykah Badu (Rock Star Award), Nadia Lopez (Change Agent Awrd) and Dr. Helene D. Gayle (Social Humanatarian Award) as well as 2015’s P & G sponsored M.A.D. Girls Chental-Song Bembry, Gabrille Jordan and Kaya Thomas.

While most of us were hanging on their every words from all the golden nuggets they were giving, you also couldn’t help admiring all the natural hair, curly manes and manicured locs that graced the main stage. From Jill Scott’s oversized afro to Tracee Ellis Ross’s curly cropped coif we rounded up 8 of our favorite hair moments that rocked!
